May BE IT'S SUMMER

Woah nelly its been a long time. I've missed you, truly. Come sit down by the fire and let me tell you a story. The end.

I've been as busy as winnie the pooh looking for honey in all of those pots. I nearly broke my foot and have been hobbling all over chicago. I'm burnt to a crisp from partying in Wisconsin with Rach's folks and I'm tired as hell from work, school, and all of the extracurricular activities. Corey got married, signed, and recorded. I borrowed, played, and beat assassin's creed 2. I waited for, watched, and hated the finale of lost. Rachel caught a fish, a frog, and some tadpoles--And I've eaten a shitload of Cheez-It party pix (aka snack mix). Haven't really gotten to pick up a camera in a while. I've been sitting back while Rachel's been learning to use hers. She's been making some awesome necklaces and is selling them at her etsy store so go buy one. I've been designing a lot and actually picked up a company called Big Lobby as a new client. Not really much I can say right now, but here's a sneak peak at what I've been doing for them.

Have a great memorial day. Don't forget to have plenty of memories of stuff. "One love" as Bono would say.
I'll be spending it with friends and the most adorable girl on the planet.

March 9

Rachel and I celebrated our 1st year together on the 22nd of February. It was great! We made dinner and drank some wine. I found an antique photo album in the store below my apartment and filled it with a bunch of photos we took over the past year. She made me an Oreo cake! Unlike my birthday, this time i got to eat more than one piece...! Other things have happened as well between now and the last time I posted, but I don't think anyone cares that's reading this--If anyone is even reading this besides Rachel. ha ha

I know the pictures aren't perfectly aligned (its bugging me) but whatever.

I decided to start a comic strip with a few friends and have been doodling around in illustrator and photoshop. We're currently writing it and once its done we'll have it up somewhere. I'll post it on here for sure.

I must have been feeling violent this day.

February 7

I can't sleep. I've been so busy lately, and I'm so tired, but I just can't fall asleep so I figured I would talk to myself on the internet.

Rachel and I are getting ready to celebrate our year on the 22nd. I'm so excited. I'll never get tired of looking at this face everyday.

I just hope she doesn't get tired of this one...

I recently won a design contest on Crowdspring.com! $375! Thanks Grant!

Rachel and I are finally starting to sell some shirts on etsy.com. Head over there and check them out. We'll be adding more very soon.

Things have been crazy here. Rach and I went to the Art Institute Museum with Corey and Mallory on Friday, and to her friend Jake's show at the Metro with his band The Hudson Branch last Saturday. Oh, and the Friday before last I came home to a lesbian dance party in the loft...ha ha. Zoe recently moved out and we gained a new roommate from Paris named Annatole ( I think thats spelled right.) Anyway, what do you care? I'm flippin' tired.

PS: stumbleupon is awesome.

January 2

Today I woke up to a gelfling in my bed. It was nice.

I left her there to go to work and found out we were closed today...so I came back to bed.

Rach and I headed back to Crystal Lake and spent most of the day in various pet stores trying to decide what to put in her new 10 gallon tank she bought for her African Clawed Frogs. We ate at Outback Steakhouse (thanks Becqui) and went to another pet store. There was an Old English Sheep dog puppy that we played with. Not as cool as Boozer, but still awesome. I pried Rachel away and ended up buying a new rock for Toast. Now that Rach got a new tank she's passing along her octagonal (or hexagonal i cant remember) to me!

New years eve was great. We spent the evening on the second floor of my building with some of my loft mates and Corey and Mallory. It was a blast. Listening to the Live band and dancing around with Rachel was the perfect way to begin the new year.

Oh, here are a few things I illustrated for Christmas as gifts.

These are two characters of a children's book I wrote and illustrated for my Niece and Nephew.

Special request from my Sister-in-law Jenni.

Robot hugging an octopus...:-)

December 29

So, Christmas was awesome. Rachel came over Christmas Eve day before I went home to see my family. I got her a Nikon D60 body and gave her one of my lenses. I'm so happy she loves it, and I can't wait to see what she can do with it. She's better than I am already. I also carved her a little wooden elephant that she can tie into a necklace!

Rachel made me this awesome gray and blue scarf! It's so warm and so long. I can rap it around my face infinite times. It must have taken her a whole 24 hours to make. She also bought me some new headphones because my other ones suck really bad. Candy, Rachel Brownies, and a Coca-Cola(I'm addicted) glass were also part of my gift.

After Rach and I exchanged gifts, we loaded up my rental car with my bags to go home. What should have taken 5 hours took more like 7 or even close to 8 because of the weather and traffic. I swear it took me an hour just to get on 55.

We made it there and back though. Bruiser had fun seeing his long lost friend Luther (my grandparents' poodle) even though he can be a little crazy.

I'm happy to be back in Chicago. I wish I could bring my friends and family with me. Being away from them for so long really made me appreciate this Christmas. I'm so thankful for my family, friends, and Rachel. They all helped make this Christmas the best ever. (despite the shitty weather driving there and back!)

December 16

Rachel and I went sledding Sunday on an awesome hill near her house. We managed to dodge all of the kamikaze children when we got to the bottom. We went down about 6 times and went and got some hot chocolate to add to our bellies full of tacos.

On my way home tonight from school I decided to get off a stop early and catch the bus since it went straight to my block...that didn't work out. I ended up waiting for a non-existent bus for about 20 minutes while talking to a homeless guy who (so he says) had just gotten stitches on his leg. He was limping around and looked really hopeless so I believed him. I felt really bad for him so I got him on the L Train with my U-pass. That was the best I could do. I hope he gets his shit together. I felt good after that, so I treated myself to Burger King...ha ha. Then walked home in the 7 degree weather. It was, if nothing else, an interesting trip home.

Thank god my apartment is always hot as hell.
